Fernando started his career in 2001, as a Junior Colorist at Casablanca Finish, a visual effects house based in Sao Paulo, considered the biggest post-production facility in Latin America, at that time. During 5 years, he worked in color projects with film, in a vast array of telecine equipments, such as Ursa Gold, Diamond, ITK Millennium and Spirit 2K, with Pogle and Da Vinci 2K consoles. Fernando’s work quickly gained prominence in the advertising market and in 2004, two campaigns he color-graded gained Silver and Bronze lions in the Cannes Festival.
In 2005 he joined Cinecolor, an entertainment-focused Chilean multinational, with many feature films released. After 5 years as Colorist there, he was invited to be Head of the Color Grading and DI department, working hands-on with many fun, detailed and also awarded projects, such as the movie “The Way He Looks”, the Official Brazilian Foreign Language Entry at the 87th Academy Awards and winner of other festivals as Teddy Award at Berlin Film Festival.
In 2013 he started a new challenge, helping to build and leading the Color Grading department at ClanVFX, currently one of the most renowned post production companies in Brazil, focused on cutting-edge visual effects.
Since then, he has collaborated with the main directors and producers in Brazil and abroad, believing in the power of color grading to tell stories and surface emotions, being it an advertising piece or a feature film.
Fernando brought a distinctive visual style and sensibility, building a vast portfolio, working for major brands worldwide, such as Nike, Budweiser, Ford, VW, Corona, Under Armor, Coca Cola, Samsung, among many others, coloring some of the most iconic commercials awarded at festivals such as Cannes, Adnd , Cyclops, El Ojo.
In 2016 Fernando decided to expand his horizons and found his own company, focusing the experience acquired throughout the years and building a creative enhanced environment, dedicated to color work. This way Marla Colour Grading was born!
